We are a group of women who feel called to act on what we know and have seen. God has placed within our hearts a love for Africa and her people. Some of us have children from these countries, some sponsor children from these countries but we are all mothers. We are mothers who see a hurt and a need and have a desire to act. Despite being thousands of miles away we hope to make a difference in the places that hold a piece of our hearts.

Ethiopia Trip!!!

Three of us will be heading to Ethiopia!!! We will be visiting Yezelalem Minch and being a part of their Saturday program and learning more of what they need from us here in the United States. We hope to go and capture what their struggles there are and get the church here inspired to act and make a difference.

This trip has many purposes. We desire to make a difference over there. We desire to bring some hope to the staff of YM and to the children and families that they serve. We desire to go and love on children who have no one to love on them. We want to love on children who have been told that they are HIV positive. We want them to know that they are not forgotten and that there are many people here who are praying for them.

We could send money. But we hope to go there and capture the reality of what their lives are like. We want to bring them back here and spark a desire within our church to make a difference. We could send money, but some of us feel called to GO. Even if its for the little amount of time it is. We cant love on them, cry with them and hold then if we are sitting over here.

We plan to travel from Feb 23 - March 2, 2011.
It will cost $5,000 for the three of us to go.

Expanding our donations!

We are expanding beyond shoes to send to Yezelalem Minch. Here is a list of the suggested donations:

*Tennis Shes
*Underwear
*Backpacks
*Blankets
*Crayons
*Pencils

I know that at walmart there are small backpacks on clearance for $3. There are also tennis shoes that are typically $10 but only $3 on clearance. You can find good deals at walmart for things on clearance - lots of cute outfits for kids around $3. And unlike many kids here in the United States, the kids in Ethiopia are thankful for anything they receive, so don't worry if something isn't name brand etc.

If you would like a free dvd on the organization that we are sending donations to - please email Kara at:
kkvassar@yahoo.com

Our first shoe drive!!!

We are asking you to help us with our first "drive" which will be to get as many tennis shoes as possible for these kids who dont have any! If you would like to help, get in touch with us and let us know what you can do! It would be great if we could recruit sunday school classes (children and adult), school classrooms, basketball teams etc and ask each person in the class to bring in a pair of new tennis shoes plus one dollar to help with shipping.

Tennis shoes at walmart are around $10 a pair. On clearance they get down to $3 a pair. Please considering purchasing tennis shoes to contribute to these kids. They can be all sizes.

Please bring along one dollar to help with shipping if possible.

Please email me for more info!
